ABOUT ME

I was born and raised in Sicily, I have lived in Siena since 2019. If photography is a matter of looks, there are many snapshots that Modica, my city of origin, offered immediately to my eyes: I think of the baroque churches and balconies, the limestone houses of the countryside. And then the dry walls, under the white and strong light, that divide fields of olive and carob trees...

The first encounter with the camera came at the age of five, when I secretly took it from my mother's drawer. The rolls of film had their cost, and although sometimes I succeeded in my intentions, taking photographs remained above all a desire.

The events in which it would have been possible to experience it were those of the holidays: from family gatherings, birthdays and sacraments in particular, to village ones. I like to review those images and think that the first signs of what my work would be were already there, in those events where beauty and pleasure, ceremony and joviality mixed.

The first camera comes with age along with interest in fashion and portraits. Friends ready to improvise as models are not lacking and I begin to shoot more and more frequently experimenting. After the art institute I decided to continue my education in Catania where I enrolled at the Harim Academy.

These were important years, where the study of photography became selective: at the academy, the first meetings with masters and professionals in the sector and the pleasure of feeling accompanied on my journey by colleagues with the same passion. Work begins: portraits, private services and various shots connected to commercial activities. Then the first important steps in my favorite sector, that of weddings, as an assistant.

In 2019 a new cycle of my life begins in Siena, a city open to me also in a professional way: photographers from Siena gave me the opportunity to collaborate with them, initiating me into weddings in this city, its events, its beauty.

If photography is not only an image, but also a story, there are various interests that as tributaries contribute to nourish its passion: I think of the novels that I love, cinema and the study of art, encountered in my training and never abandoned.

Sometimes I remember that five-year-old girl. I see her going through the drawer looking carefully around and I smile... I’d like to reassure you, tell you that the time would come, that the one in the drawer wouldn’t just be a dream.
